I have added two new features to the free Gridfinity Generator: a parametric washer & spacer generator, and optional drainage feet for the flower pot. Both are live now at https://gridfinity.tekonline.com.au/.
New: Washer & Spacer Generator
Need a custom washer or spacer for a 3D printed project? Instead of finding a generic STL or modelling one from scratch, use the new washer generator. It handles flat washers as well as solid discs (set the inner diameter to zero).
Washer generator parameters
- Outer Diameter: 5 mm to 200 mm — the full washer width
- Inner Diameter: 0 mm to 190 mm — set to 0 for a solid disc/spacer
- Thickness: 0.4 mm to 20 mm — how thick the washer is
Washer generator presets
Three quick-start presets are included:
- M10 Washer — 20 mm OD, 10 mm ID, 2 mm thick
- M8 Wide Washer — 30 mm OD, 8 mm ID, 3 mm thick
- M6 Washer — 16 mm OD, 6 mm ID, 1.5 mm thick
The preset dropdown also remembers your last custom values, making it easy to tweak and re-generate.
New: Flower Pot Drainage Feet
The flower pot generator now includes an optional Drainage Feet checkbox. When enabled, four cylindrical feet are added under the pot floor, lifting the base 5 mm off any surface. Water drains freely through the centre hole, keeping roots healthy.
The flower pot itself remains fully parametric: set bottom and top outer diameters, wall thickness, drain hole size, and total height. The drainage feet are positioned near the pot edge so they do not block the centre drain hole.
Preset: 100 mm Pot with Drainage Feet
A new preset “100mm Pot w/ Drainage Feet” loads a ready-to-print planter with the feet enabled. Adjust the dimensions to suit your plant and generate.
All generators now available
The Gridfinity Generator now includes four generator types:
- Bin — parametric storage bins with dividers, label lip, scoop, basket sides, magnet/screw holes, stacking lip, dovetail connectors
- Baseplate — thin, weighted, skeletonized, and screw-together styles with countersink/counterbore options
- Flower Pot — tapered planters with drain hole and optional drainage feet
- Washer — flat washers and spacers with adjustable OD, ID, and thickness
Every generator downloads a ready-to-print STL file. After downloading, you can open it directly in Bambu Studio, Orca Slicer, or PrusaSlicer with one click.
