Free Gridfinity Baseplate Generator: Custom STL for 3D Printing

Gridfinity baseplates hold your storage bins in place, but finding the exact baseplate you need can be frustrating. The TekOnline Gridfinity Baseplate Generator lets you configure a custom baseplate in your browser, preview it in 3D and download a ready-to-print STL file — free.

Why use a custom baseplate generator?

Drawers and work surfaces come in many sizes. A 3×2 baseplate that fits one drawer may be wasted space in another. Instead of scaling a single STL (which breaks the Gridfinity pitch) or manually editing a CAD file each time, you can generate exactly the footprint you need in seconds.

Baseplate styles

The generator supports four baseplate styles, selected from a dropdown:

  • Thin (Minimal): a low-profile baseplate that saves filament while keeping bins located securely
  • Weighted: a thicker, heavier baseplate for workbench setups where you want the plate to stay put
  • Skeletonized: a lightweight open-frame design that reduces print time and material
  • Screw Together: baseplates with screw-together connectors for building larger grids from multiple printed pieces

Screw hole options

If you mount your baseplates to a surface, you can choose the hole style:

  • Plain: straight through-holes
  • Countersink: tapered holes for flush-mount screws
  • Counterbore: stepped holes with a flat-bottom recess

Set the screw diameter to match your hardware (defaults to 3.35 mm for M3 screws).

Additional baseplate options

  • Grid X & Grid Y: choose any footprint from 1×1 to 20×20 grid units (each unit is 42 mm)
  • Corner radius: adjust the corner rounding from 1 mm to 10 mm
  • Wall height: control the lip height that holds bins in place
  • Lip thickness: set the wall thickness of the locating lip
  • Crush ribs: toggle the small ribs that give a friction fit for bins
  • Magnet holes: add holes for magnetic Gridfinity setups
  • Screw holes: add mounting screw holes to the baseplate corners

How to generate a custom Gridfinity baseplate

  1. Open the Gridfinity Generator
  2. Select Baseplate from the generator dropdown
  3. Set your Grid X and Grid Y footprint
  4. Choose a baseplate style and screw hole type
  5. Adjust corner radius, wall height, and lip thickness to suit
  6. Click Generate Preview to see the 3D model
  7. Download the STL and open it in Bambu Studio, Orca Slicer, or PrusaSlicer

Pairing baseplates with bins

The baseplate generator and bin generator share the same Gridfinity pitch (42 mm per unit). A 3×2 baseplate fits three bins side-by-side in the X direction and two rows in the Y direction. You can mix bin sizes within the same baseplate layout.
