8 Zone HVAC Control With Positional Damper Control

V3 has been developed directly from customer feedback. Customers want finer airflow balancing than simple on/off damper control allows. With compatible dampers, V3 can drive a zone to an approximate calibrated percentage position, stop it, and hold that setting. This gives users more useful room-by-room airflow control through Home Assistant.

Move Beyond Open and Closed

Traditional zone controllers treat dampers as fully open or fully closed. TekOnline V3 is designed for more precise airflow control.

Using calibrated actuator travel times, V3 can move compatible dampers to approximate percentage positions, then stop and hold them. This makes it possible to partially open a zone for better comfort, quieter airflow and more practical room balancing.

Know Whether a Zone Is Drawing Power

V3 includes onboard current monitoring on the 24VAC damper supply. When the controller commands a zone to move, it can check whether actuator current is flowing.

This gives installers and users useful diagnostics beyond a basic relay controller, including likely disconnected dampers, wiring issues, failed actuators and unexpected no-load conditions.

Startup and Commissioning Diagnostics

During commissioning or startup, V3 can briefly command each zone and check for current flow. This provides a practical diagnostic pass to help confirm that each damper is electrically responding before normal operation begins.

This is especially valuable on multi-zone installs where a disconnected plug, wiring issue or failed actuator can otherwise be difficult to locate.

Important accuracy note: current monitoring confirms electrical current flow. It does not, by itself, prove the damper blade physically moved to the requested position.

Compatibility

Designed for compatible 24VAC three-conductor dampers using common, drive-open and drive-closed connections. Not suitable for 2-wire spring-return dampers. Confirm actuator compatibility before installation.
