WeHireIt lets people hire tools and gear from local owners. The new map search makes the search area easy to understand. You see each item on a map. You see the price and the approximate distance before you click.
How the map search works
- Open the search page and select Pick on map.
- Drag the pin to your area. You can also use your current location.
- Select a search radius: 5, 10, 20, 50 or 100 kilometres.
- Press Search. The results list and the map update together.
Each item appears as a circular photo marker. Click a marker to open a preview card. The card shows the photo, the product name, the price per day, and the pickup suburb. It also shows the approximate distance. Select View listing to open the full product page.
Product photos on the map
Owners add photos when they create a listing. The first photo is the cover photo. The cover photo appears on the map marker. Items without a photo show the first letter of the product name instead.
When several items come from one store, the markers spread in a small circle. This keeps every marker easy to click.
Privacy by design
The map never shows an exact pickup address. The server rounds each pickup point to a grid of about 500 metres. The public page shows only the suburb and the approximate distance. The owner and the hirer arrange the exact pickup point after the booking is accepted.
How the map is built
The map uses Leaflet and OpenStreetMap tiles. It needs no API key and no paid map provider. The server calculates straight-line distance with the Haversine formula. The Angular frontend renders the markers and the preview cards.
