ESPHome 8-Zone Controller V2: Wi-Fi Setup and Home Assistant Adoption

This guide covers the customer setup process for the TekOnline ESPHome 8-Zone Controller V2. The controller is shipped with a provisioning image so Wi-Fi can be configured without preloading the customer’s home-network credentials.

Before you start

• Connect the controller to a suitable 24 VAC supply.
• Have the home Wi-Fi name and password ready.
• Use a phone or laptop with Wi-Fi enabled.

Connect the controller to Wi-Fi

1. Power on the controller.
2. Join the temporary Wi-Fi network TekOnline 8 Zone V2 Setup.
3. Use the temporary setup password TekOnlineSetup26.
4. If the setup page does not open automatically, browse to http://192.168.4.1/.
5. Enter the home Wi-Fi name and password, then save.
6. Allow the controller to reboot and join the home network.

Provisioning password note: TekOnlineSetup26 is only the temporary password for the controller’s local setup hotspot. It is not the customer’s home Wi-Fi password and does not provide access to the home network.

Adopt in Home Assistant

1. Open Home Assistant and go to Settings -> Devices & services.
2. Look for the discovered ESPHome device named esphome-8zone-v2.
3. Select it and complete the adoption/setup flow.
4. If discovery does not appear automatically, add the ESPHome device using esphome-8zone-v2.local.

Recovery flashing

If the controller ever needs to be recovered, use the V2 provisioning YAML with ESPHome over USB. The V2 configuration is for V2/V3-compatible boards; do not use it on the older V1 board because the relay GPIO mapping is different.
