The 4-Zone Wall Controller now has a cleaner wall-mounted look. The latest update adds a custom zone label recess and a Clipsal 2000 Series clip-on surround. This gives the controller a finished appearance that matches standard Australian switch plates.
Front faceplate with Clipsal surround
The front faceplate fits a Clipsal 2000 Series cover plate surround (part number 2000C-WE). This surround clips onto the mounting frame. It gives the controller a neat look that matches existing light switches and power points in the home.
The surround is off-the-shelf hardware. You can buy it from any electrical wholesaler. It needs no modification. The controller mounts behind the wall plate grid. The surround snaps on from the front.
Custom zone label recess
The front bezel has a recess that measures 28.86 mm wide by 46.11 mm tall. This recess holds a printed paper label. The label shows the zone names for your install.
You write the zone names yourself. Common names include Lounge, Attic, Bedroom 1, and Bedroom 2. Or any four zone names that suit your home. The label slides into the recess. When you clip on the surround, the label is held in place.
Print your own custom zone label
A print-ready SVG template comes with the product documentation. The template is set to the exact recess dimensions. You can edit the zone names and print on standard paper.
What you need
- Inkscape (free, open-source)
- A printer
- Plain paper or laser-compatible gloss paper
- Craft knife and ruler
Steps
- Open the SVG template in Inkscape.
- Set the document size. Go to File → Document Properties (Shift+Ctrl+D). Set Units to mm. Enter Width 28.86 and Height 46.11.
- Edit the zone names. Double-click any text to change it. Type your own zone names.
- Use Align and Distribute to space the four zones equally. Select all four rows. Open Object → Align and Distribute. Choose equal vertical spacing.
- Save your changes. File → Save a Copy. Select PDF format.
- Print the PDF at 100% scale. Do not use “fit to page”.
- Trim the label with a craft knife and ruler. The finished size is 28.86 mm by 46.11 mm.
- Insert the label into the recess on the front bezel.
- Clip on the Clipsal 2000 Series surround.
Paper choice
Plain copy paper works well. For a gloss finish, use laser-compatible gloss paper. The pack must say “laser” on the label. Standard inkjet gloss paper will melt inside a laser printer and damage the fuser roller.
Recommended laser gloss brands: HP Laser Gloss, Avery, or Koala. These are available at Officeworks and most stationery suppliers.
