Discovery 3 Temp Sensor: Slow but Normal

Just a heads-up for anyone watching their Discovery 3 temp gauge and thinking it’s broken: the outside temperature sensor is supposed to be slow. I swapped mine out recently because I thought it was acting up and ordered a replacement from AliExpress. Big mistake—the new sensor immediately showed -8°C… in 28°C weather. Yep, negative eight. Total waste of time.

I ended up putting the stock sensor back in. It took a while for the gauge to climb from 8°C back to reality, which confirmed the slowness isn’t a fault—it’s normal. The car’s computer must deliberately limit how fast the temperature reading changes.

If anyone has tips or tricks on how to speed up the temperature sensor’s response, I’d love to hear them. Otherwise, just remember: slow is normal, -8°C is not.
