Introduction
Once you’ve tested your Land Rover Discovery 3 air compressor, it’s time for installation. Following the correct steps ensures a smooth, error-free replacement. Here’s a full guide to removing and installing a Discovery 3 air compressor safely.
Removing the Old Compressor
- Remove the bottom cover
- Two 10mm bolts at either end.
- Disconnect air lines and electrical connections
- Rear intake line requires a 19mm spanner.
- Disconnect motor power and solenoid plugs.
- Remove the exhaust push-fit connector
- Remove noise-isolating bolts
- Slide out the compressor
- Lift the top half of the compressor cover and slide the unit toward the rear.
Installing the New Compressor
Installation is the reverse of removal:
- Slide the compressor into place, lifting the top cover as needed.
- Reattach noise-isolating bolts.
- Reconnect the exhaust push-fit connector.
- Reattach air lines and electrical plugs.
- Secure the bottom cover with 10mm bolts.
Tips for a Smooth Installation
- Double-check all plugs and air lines before securing.
- Avoid stretching or twisting air lines.
- Cycle the air suspension after installation to ensure proper operation.
