When I booked a three-night stay at Cassa Wharf Street Apartments for the Brisbane Half Marathon, I thought I had found the perfect place.
The location was excellent, the apartment looked modern and clean, and after running 21.1 kilometres on race day I was already looking forward to relaxing in the hot tubs and making use of the wellness facilities.
Unfortunately, the stay didn’t quite turn out as expected.
The Parking Surprise
The first issue appeared before I had even checked in.
After arriving in Brisbane and following Google Maps to the property, I started looking for information about where guests should park. It was only after digging a little deeper and contacting reception that I discovered parking was not included with the accommodation.
To be fair, the staff member I spoke with was polite and helpful. She provided directions to a nearby parking facility and explained the arrangements.
What I wasn’t expecting was the price.
The parking worked out to approximately $80 per night.
For anyone driving into Brisbane, I would strongly recommend confirming parking arrangements before arrival and factoring that cost into your accommodation budget.
The Half Marathon Recovery Plan That Never Happened
The main reason I chose this accommodation was simple.
I was running the Brisbane Half Marathon.
Like many runners, I had visions of crossing the finish line, returning to the apartment, and spending some time recovering in a hot tub.
Unfortunately, both hot tubs were empty and out of service during my stay.
Now, I understand that maintenance issues happen. Equipment breaks. Repairs are sometimes unavoidable.
The disappointment wasn’t that the hot tubs were unavailable. The disappointment was that one of the key facilities that influenced my booking decision wasn’t available when I arrived.
After running a half marathon, all I really wanted was a soak.
The Wellness Facilities
The wellness facilities had a few other issues as well.
The sauna had no water ladle available.
The steam room had no hose available to rinse down the seating areas.
The pool was also located on a completely different level to the sauna and steam room, which made moving between the facilities less convenient than expected.
Individually these may sound like minor issues. Together they left the wellness area feeling incomplete.
The Little Things
There were a few smaller inconveniences that added up:
- No luggage trolley available.
- Only one key supplied for the stay.
- Communication generally occurred through a management intermediary rather than directly with concierge staff.
None of these issues would ruin a stay on their own, but they contributed to an experience that felt less polished than advertised.
Credit Where It’s Due
It’s important to be fair.
The apartment itself was very clean.
The location is excellent and makes it easy to access Brisbane’s CBD, restaurants, river walks, and major events.
Communication from the hosts was prompt, friendly, and professional throughout the booking process and during the stay.
After I provided feedback, the response was courteous and acknowledged the concerns. The team explained that the hot tubs and wellness facilities form part of the building’s common areas and advised that my comments would be passed on to building management.
The Review Problem
One thing I found frustrating after my stay was that I was unable to leave a Google review for the property.

Whether this is due to the way the listing is configured or for some other reason, I couldn’t find a straightforward way to share my experience publicly through Google.
As a traveller, I rely heavily on reviews when deciding where to stay. I think future guests benefit from being able to read both positive and negative experiences before booking.
That’s one of the reasons I’ve written this review here instead.
Final Thoughts
If you like paying $80 a night for parking, carrying your luggage without a trolley, having only one key for your stay, and finding the pool on a different level to the sauna and steam room, then Cassa Wharf Street Apartments could be the place for you.
If you’ve just completed a half marathon and are looking forward to recovering in a hot tub afterwards, you may want to confirm that the facilities are operational before booking.
Would I stay here again?
Possibly. The location is genuinely good, the apartment was clean, and the staff were polite and helpful.
Would I choose it specifically because of the advertised wellness facilities?
No.
For me, the biggest lesson was that facilities that look great on a booking page don’t always translate into the experience you receive on arrival.
Hopefully this review helps future guests make a more informed decision than I was able to.
