Fixing a 1999 Seadoo Speedster.

This post is to keep things updated as I work on fixing this up. Hopefully it helps someone else out there doing the same to their boat. These things are becoming more and more rare.

We got the boat and trailer transferred, and also had to get the trailer registered. The brakes were way out of adjustment. After some work to get things back, we took it down to the water… only to find that it didn’t drive, the port engine revved up like it was free wheeling, and the boat didn’t have any thrust. It must have been funny to watch us paddle the boat back to shore! Perhaps the seller wasn’t being completely transparent with us; things were not adding up.

Back home we went and the investigations began. What I have found when buying this sort of thing is that unfortunately you become a detective peeling back the layers of work done to try and get the boat/vehicle back to a ‘factoryish’ state.

When I got the jet pumps off this is what I found:

Hmm this could cause a drive issue! I’m currently waiting for a price on a correct length drive shaft.

Ill keep updating this as I go… stay tuned!
