📦 How I’m Fighting a Parcel Dispute When My Order Arrived Empty

By Jonathan Cianci

Recently, I ordered a small electrical connector set on AliExpress.
The parcel arrived in the mail — but when I opened it, it was completely empty. Worse, the package had a visible rip where the item likely fell out (or was tampered with).

🛑 The Problem

When I opened a dispute on AliExpress, I explained that the package arrived empty and uploaded photos of:

  • The ripped packaging
  • The shipping label
  • The empty inside

But AliExpress rejected my dispute.
Their reason?

“The evidence you provided was not valid for your dispute case. Please provide an official certificate of parcel weight issued by the logistics company.”

🔍 What AliExpress Wants

AliExpress needs objective proof — an official document from the carrier that says:

  • The parcel arrived empty,
  • Or the weight on delivery was too light to contain the item,
  • Or that it was damaged in transit.

Basically, they want to see that it wasn’t just my word against the seller’s.

📌 My Plan to Fix This

Here’s what I’m doing to build a solid case:

1️⃣ Contact the Carrier (iMile)
I wrote this message to iMile in their chat:

Hello, I recently received a parcel delivered by iMile that arrived empty and damaged, with a rip in the packaging. The seller (AliExpress) requires an official certificate of parcel weight or a delivery incident report from the carrier to prove that the package arrived empty. Could you please issue an official statement or certificate confirming the condition and weight of the parcel at delivery? If needed, I can provide photos of the empty parcel, the packaging, and the shipping label. Please let me know if you require any additional information or if I should bring the packaging to an office for inspection. Thank you for your help — this is urgent as I have only a few days to submit the proof.

2️⃣ Gather More Evidence
I’m taking:

  • Extra clear photos of the packaging and the damage
  • A video showing the parcel is empty

3️⃣ If iMile Refuses
If iMile won’t help, I’ll:

  • Ask for a written statement of refusal
  • Check if my local postal service (e.g., Australia Post) can issue an incident report instead
  • Escalate to the postal ombudsman if needed

4️⃣ Submit Everything to AliExpress
Once I have the official proof, I’ll re-upload it in the dispute portal with a clear note asking them to reconsider.

✏️ Key Lesson for Others

👉 Photos alone are not enough.
👉 Always get an official weight certificate or damage report if your parcel arrives empty or damaged.
👉 Act quickly — AliExpress usually gives only 3 days to submit new evidence.

My Final Tips

  • Be polite but firm with the carrier.
  • Document everything.
  • Keep copies of all chats and emails.
  • If needed, involve your local postal office.

📌 I’ll update this post with what happens next — hopefully it helps someone else in the same situation!Update here is part 2
